LibAnswers FAQ - Questions about LibAnswers? We'll solve 'em!

Q

How do we have our LibGuides appear as links in related LibAnswers entries?

I thought that if the assigned LibGuides tags matched keywords in the LibAnswers response a link would automatically appear in the lower right-hand corner of the LibAnswers page -- 'related content in ...' Or do we need to do something else to activate these links?

Answer

Here's how the "Related content in your LibGuides system name" works on the LibAnswers pages:

The question text is searched in your LibGuides/CampusGuides system and returns the most relevant guide results.

So, it's doing a full-text search and the ranking is (with most heavily weighted first): guide name, guide description, page (tab) name, and page content.

In addition, we remove stop words of:

where|what|when|find|this|that|those|these|about|have|with|they|were|does|all|and|any|are|but|can|did|for|had|has|her|hey|
him|his|how|its|let|not|now|she|the|too|use|was|was|who|why|yes|you

as well as all 1-2 letter words.
